We spent many years growing up together, we went from playing with dolls to going to Northside High, she was in the choir, I chose band. She graduated in 1966, I graduated the next year in 1967. We were still pretty much insrepable, I still remember us going to the old skating rink on Midland Blvd, she was a fantastic skater. I did good to stay on my feet.  During the end of my Junior year I would help at the band wagon at the rodeo,  which made money for the band. Nancy would go with me and help. One night I came in and my mother jumped me and ask me if I was giving my number to soilders, I said no but Nancy was. Too long story about how a soilders got my number. I talked on the phone to him for a good while and I finally ask mother if I could go out with him, she knew the perfect answer, go ask your daddy, she knew daddy would say no, not a soilder, Chaffee was still active, soilders everywhere. Daddy said ok, mother almost fainted. Nancy said call him and ask if he has a friend. He said yes and on that fateful night, the two soilders came to my door, Nancy and I was nervous wrecks, her date was named Rock, he was a big guy with an ego to match, he thought he was God's gift to women, she double dated with us for as long as she could stand it, dumped him, I married mine year later,, we never double dated again, we shared so many memories, my most precious one was I got to talk to her the day before she passed away.
