He began to take photos, getting as close as allowed.  A policeman asked Larry if he would ride the huge dozer and continue to take photos.  Larry rode that thing for hours, and sent out for more film so he could take the horrific images that began to eventually emerge as the dozer cleared as much as possible of the debris.  Larry had built his own dark room for he and his son to use, in their home in Kibler.  Larry developed all the photographs made on that terrible night.  Later Larry's photographs were used by various investigators and law enforcement agencies and insurances, as those photos were deemed the official photos of the incident.

Another way back memory is that Larry played the father (a leading role) in a King Opera House Players production of "You Can't Take It With You".  Larry was friendly with the director, and the director was having trouble casting that role.  Larry volunteered.  Some had doubts, as Larry was always a reserved guy.  Turned out HE WAS FANTASTIC in that role!  He got rave comments from all who saw the production!

Story shared: Louisville, Kentucky http://ockerfuneral.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/5689/runtime.php?SiteId=5689&NavigatorId=663110&ItemId=1909592&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story1029383 Larry was a Sea Scout, as he lived in Louisville during his childhood and teen-age years.  Louisville was on the Mighty Ohio River and many boys were Sea Scouts rather than Boy Scouts.  Larry was an expert swimmer and water skier.  Later he attended Eastern Kentucky College in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  I well remember parties when Larry was a young adult.  I can see him now in a black turtle neck sweater, thick black framed glasses........standing on a coffee table doing an imitation of Ernie Kovaks.  He loved comedians Mort Sahl and Ernie Kovaks and Mike Nichols and Elaine May.  He loved almost all jazz singers and musicians.  His closest friends were men who were as extremely funny and loud, as he was quiet and reserved.  Larry was courteous and mannerly.  Summed up, he never met a person who didn't like him.
