Obituary for Coreena Cockrum (Burkhart)

Coreena Cockrum, 86 of Van Buren passed away Monday, September 5, 2022 in her home. She owned Beauty Salons and shoe stores in Van Buren and Fort Smith for thirty six years. She was also co-owner of C & C Specialties and partner in Custom Assembly for several years. She was appointed to the State Board of Cosmetology by the governor and one of seven to be selected for the Hall of Fame for outstanding achievement in the beauty field. She attended Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church in Van Buren. She is preceded in death by her husband Loyd Cockrum; parents Jim and Nellie (Kenner) Burkhart; one son Ricky Lee Cockrum; brothers Bobby, Johnny Lee, Roy and Troy Burkhart.

She is survived by two daughters Idonna Toppin and husband Ray of Van Buren and Sherry Ridenhour and husband Kenneth of Waldron; two sons Terry Don Cockrum and wife Lisa of Van Buren and Randy Cockrum and wife Anjie of Hartman; one sister Ruby Nell Pierce of Alma; brothers Jimmy Burkhart and Ted Burkhart both of Alma; Mackey Burkhart, Billy Don Burkhart and David Burkhart all of Rudy; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11AM, Thursday September 8, 2022 at Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.

Family will visit with relatives and friends Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren from 5-7PM, 700 Jefferson Street.

Pallbearers will be Gary Burkhart, Stanley Burkhart, Monty Burkhart, Steve Cockrum, Roger Atwell, Rickey Shaffer, Nickie Shaffer.
