Joy Laqueta Walters, 87, of Benton, AR passed away on Monday November 12, 2018 in Amber Health and Rehabilitation Center in Benton, Arkansas. She was born April 1, 1931 in Mangum, OK to Millard and Minnie (Basinger) Cummings. Joy was a homemaker, a pastor’s wife, ran a general store in the Jenny Lind Community and a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Carrol Walters.
She is survived by two sons, Joey Walters and his wife Karen of Bryant, AR and Jim Walters of Honolulu, HI; five grandsons, Jeff, Jason and Jarrett Walters, Matthew and Luke Walters and five great-grandchildren.
Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Old Jenny Lind Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
