Bill Fred Ballard, 88, died Thursday, March 22, 2018 in his home. He was born December 28, 1929 in Mulberry, Arkansas, the seventh child of Lewis Nelson Ballard and Jessie Ann (Carty). He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Hazel, Hubert, Olen, James, Jessie, Lewis Jr. and his wife of 58 Years Jean (Lemley) and one son Warren.

Bill is survived by one daughter, Kristina Wells and her husband Kenny of Keota, Oklahoma. Two grandchildren, Blake Pitchford and wife Mary and Kris-Ann Palmer and husband Shanan, both of Fort Smith. Two great-grandsons Elijah Palmer and Owen Pitchford. One sister-in-law Virginia Ballard and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 11AM, Wednesday March 28, 2018 at City Heights Methodist Church in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Bill was a Van Buren High School graduate of 1948 and University of Arkansas in 1958. He was in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War. Most of his working years were in the trucking industry, with 25 years at Gordons Transports followed by Bell Trucking and Beneux Trucking. Seven years part time with the Crawford County Library. He is thankful for a long life.
