Obituary for Belva Lee Freeman, Jr -Whittaker

Belva Lee Freeman, Jr.-Whittaker also known as JR and Amber, 54, of Fort Smith, AR passed away on Saturday March 10, 2018 in his home. He was born in Little Rock, AR to Belva Lee and Maggie (Flarity) Freeman. He was a retired counselor in California and a former bartender at the Cactus Club in Fort Smith. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a Gay Rights activist and ad member of the River Valley
Gay Rights activist and a Board member and friend of the River Valley Quality Center. Belva was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Beverly Walkman and one brother, Albert Freeman.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 12, 2018 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with visitation one hour prior to the service with cremation to follow the service.

He is survived by his husband, Gary Whittaker-Freeman; three sisters, Clydene Wood of Van Buren, Melissa Amen of Porum, OK and Belinda Freeman of Fort Smith; three brothers, John Freeman, Raymond Freeman and Gary Freeman all of Cedarville.
