Obituary for Dwight L Morland

Dwight L  Morland
Dwight L. Morland, 85 of Fort Smith, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 25, 2018 in a local hospital with his family and close friends by his side. Dwight Leon Morland was born on August 5, 1932 to Clyde and Bessie Morland of Rudy, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Carney, Freeman and Huey Morland and one son-in-law Brad McKown. He was a member of First Baptist Church Fort Smith.

He was the owner of Southwestern Glass Company, a successful business he operated for twenty years, a former manager of Thomas Industries and a Glass Chemist. After retiring in 1996 he worked as a glass consultant in China for 9 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Virginia. Two daughters, Terry Schoeppe and husband Harl, Karen McKown, both of Fort Smith; a son Charles and wife Susan of Barling; two sisters, Eva June Lott, Sarah Ruiz and one brother James Morland and wife Nelda all of Van Buren. Six grandchildren; Chris Morland and wife Krista, Casey McKinley and husband Robin, Taylor Schoeppe, Austin McKown and wife Tamara all of Fort Smith, Daniel Morland and wife Cara of Bentonville, AR and Matthew McKown and wife Rachel of Little Rock, AR; Eight great-grandchildren and a special friend Joseph Guo.

A celebration of Dwight’s life will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday March 1, 2018 at First Baptist Church Fort Smith with Burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.
