Obituary for Bonnie Maxine Self (Smith)

Self, Bonnie (Smith)
The Lord embraced our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend Bonnie, as she passed away on September 22, 2017. Bonnie was born September 12, 1931 to the loving parents of Myrtle and George Smith in Locke Arkansas. She was a homemaker and retired Boeing employee of 17 years. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, quilting, cooking, and gardening. She was always the happiest though when she was surrounded by her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to joke and had an ornery side.
She was a simple, kindhearted, godly woman being a faithful member of the Free Will Baptist Church all her life. Bonnie was a single mother who independently raised, loved, and provided for her children. She is survived by her four children: Dewayne Evans of Mountainburg, Arkansas, Paula (Ken) Ewertz, Jaquetta Servis, both of Wichita, Kansas, and Chuck (Bo) Self, of Newton, Kansas, 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Myrtle Smith, and eight siblings, Raymond Smith, Edna Burrough, Opal Teague, Truman Smith, Irene Woods, Billy Joe Smith, Ruby Jean Ybarra, and Leon Smith.
Visitation will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 pm on Friday September 29th at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 30th at Pigeon Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
