J.A. Rainwater, 84, of Van Buren passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 in a local hospital. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War as an MP stationed in Arlington, Virginia. He retired as a butcher for Piggly Wiggly Foods, Hays Foods and C.V.’s IGA Food Stores. He was a member of the Cedarville First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Van Buren Masonic Lodge. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Wallace E. Rainwater and Jessie (Graham) Rainwater; and a brother, Wallace Graham Rainwater.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Hall Cemetery in Natural Dam, Arkansas under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife of 65 Years, Joann (Lollis) Rainwater of the home; a daughter, Lou Ann Cagle of Alma; a son, Larry Rainwater and wife, Candace Rainwater of Muldrow, Oklahoma; a sister, Maudie Marshall of Uniontown, Arkansas; 3 granddaughters, Rebekah Magan Jones of Springdale, Arkansas, Whitlee Rainwater and J. Bryan Rainwater and wife, Carsyn of Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Josh Couch, David Brown, Bruce Jones, Ryan Black, Bob Moore, Whitlee Rainwater, J. Bryan Rainwater and Cody Walters.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Sheppard, Don Murphy, Mike Murphy, Chuck Combs, C.V. Combs, Buddy Lollis, Kenny Shelton and Ricky White.

The family will visit with relatives and friends Monday, August 28, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Ocker funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.
