James Merrill Newman, 76 of Van Buren, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 in his home. He was a Psychologist for the State of Arkansas for the Department of Corrections and a U.S. Army Veteran. He attended Ouachita Baptist University and graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.

Arrangments and cremation under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren. No formal service will be held at this time.

He is survived by one sister Joyce Richardson of North Little Rock; four nephews; four grand nephews.
