Obituary for Helen Geneva Jones (Hunter)

Helen Jones, 88, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on March 2, 2017 in a local nursing home. She was born on March 8, 1928 in Brownsville, Texas to Fred and Della (Arnoldus) Hunter. She was married to Jack Jones on July 20, 1949. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Ralph and Jack Hunter. She was a homemaker and a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church.
Helen was a wonderful wife and mother, she took care of the home, was a past PTA President, a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Ramsey and Southside Booster Clubs and a great ballroom dancer. She traveled the world including Europe, Russia, China, Hong Kong and Israel and the U.S. from coast to coast.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack of the home; two daughters, Debbie Ward and her husband Claude of Greenwood, AR and Brenda Potts and her husband David from Fort Smith, AR; two sons, Brent Jones of Fayetteville, AR and Darrell Jones and his wife Jeanie of North Richland Hills, TX; a sister, Jean Hay of Los Cruces, NM; four grandchildren, Wade Ward, Tim Potts, Jillian Clanton and Meredith Jones and three great granddaughters, Lucy, Josephine and Isabella.
Funeral services will be 10:00, Monday, March 6, 2017 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Oak Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 2-4PM, Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, AR.
Pallbearers are Brent and Darrell Jones, Wade and Claude Ward, Tim and David Potts and Auston Clanton.
Honorary pallbearers are Curtis McDonald, Dudley Henderson and Dale Brown.
